USDA forecasts Ukraine 2017/18 sunflowerseed production at a record 14.5 million metric tons (mmt), up 0.5 mmt from last month and up 0.3 mmt from last year.

The month-to-month increase is based on an increase in estimated area, from 6.2 to 6.4 million hectares, matching last year’s record. Yield is forecast at 2.27 tons per hectare, nearly unchanged from last month but up 2 percent from last year’s record and 12 percent above the 5-year average.
